Reducing Gun Violence in the Washington DC & Surrounding Areas

Our Mission

Creatively providing resources and programming to communities effected  by youth homicide, suicide, and mental health disparities.

Guns Down Friday works in Washington, D.C., and Prince George’s County to support families who have lost children to  homicide, suicide, and mental Illness. We provide comfort and referrals to mental health services, athletics, and dance programs. We assist families financially for necessities like shoes and sports equipment as well as memorials and headstones. By organizing vigils and protests, we help families and community members process their grief and honor the memories of those departed.

Our Programs

Activities

To provide access to free meals & activities, literature to youth in underserved communities.

Stop the Bleed

To develop a mobile trauma unit that provides “Stop the Bleed” training, which teaches community members how to stop bleeding in a severely injured person

HVIP Programs

To provide one-to-one mentorship to youth ages 9-16 who have been shot or stabbed, or injured in fight. Partner with Hospital Based Violence Intervention Programs. (Children’s National,MedStar).

Youth Victims

Burial, vigil (memorial event), and grief assistance for youth victims of homicide or suicide.
