Our programs at Guns Down Friday focus on healing, prevention, and empowerment rooted in the Theory of Change. By building trust through mentors with lived experience and community connections, we break cycles of violence and create pathways to safety and opportunity for youth. Every program is designed to transform trauma into strength and change.

The Guns Down Friday Mobile Trauma Unit provides short-term care for neighborhoods impacted by gun violence, responding after a child is shot. Partnering closely with local hospitals and EMTs, the unit provides urgent mental health support and crisis intervention right where trauma happens. It also offers Stop the Bleed trainings in schools and communities, empowering residents with lifesaving skills to act in critical moments. Beyond immediate crisis care, Guns Down Friday supports families through every step offering compassionate support for funerals, vigils, ongoing survivor care, and assistance navigating legal matters and crime victim compensation. We honor lost lives with dignity and ensure no one grieves alone.

Community Support Services stands with families and neighborhoods shattered by the loss of children—from infants to teens—due to gun violence. We understand the deep pain and trauma these communities carry, and we commit to walking alongside them for the long term, providing healing and hope over 6 to 12 months following such a devastating loss. Partnering with local stakeholders, trusted community members, and leaders who truly know the neighborhood, we offer ongoing healing resources like retreats and compassionate therapy access.
Our work also includes a vital group of community influencers aged 16 to 30 who provide positive leadership and mentorship, helping guide younger youth and keep them on the right path. By blending professional care with lived experience, Community Support Services helps families and communities rebuild trust, find sustained support, and begin a lasting journey toward healing and safety. Together, we refuse to let violence define the stories of our children.
We start with immediate care after a child is lost to gun violence — providing urgent emotional support, holistic mental health care, and consistent follow-up for youth.
Two-Prong Model
1️⃣ Crisis Response & Healing Services
2️⃣ Long-Term Mentoring with FLIP-trained leaders who were once high-risk youth themselves. They have lived experience, community influence, and model resilience after their own healing.
Our Impact
We stop cycles of trauma. Each youth we reach chooses healing over harm, breaking patterns that have persisted for generations — and creating ripples of hope in their community.
